Evan's Family
We are very fortunate to live in such a generous and supportive community. When our son Evan was chosen as a recipient, our lives at the time, were filled with chaos and uncertainty about his Harlequin Ichthyosis diagnosis. Thanks to everyone who supported The Possum Queen Foundation, Evan was able to obtain different pieces of adaptive equipment to help him build core strength to sit independently and eventually to use an adaptive walker to support him. We were also able to pay some medical bills that had accumulated, due to routine procedures that are essential for Evan. Our family is incredibly grateful for the support and selflessness of our community and The Possum Queen Foundation, especially at a time of great need. While Evan continues to have his challenges, he lives life with a smile on his face that will light up a room and a presence that will warm your heart. The Possum Queen Foundation made the impossible possible for our child, as well as so many others.
Jacob & Liam
Jacob (23) and Liam (19) Kelly were diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy at the ages of 3-1/2 & 8 months. Duchenne is a progressive and life-threatening neuromuscular disease. By the ages of 9 and 10 they were both confined to wheelchairs. For many years we had to use our small mini van to transport them with both of their wheelchairs. Over time, I was unable to transport them without the help of my husband. Three years went by and in 2011, we received notification that we would be recipients. This changed our lives as it enabled us to purchase a full size wheelchair van, so that we could easily transport them. I can honestly say, I don’t know what we would have done without this extraordinarily generous organization! We will be forever grateful for their kindness and help. They have continued to support our family throughout the years and are some of the most incredible people you will ever meet. We will always be so appreciative for all they have done for us and countless others.

The Possum Queen Foundation and Litchfield/NW Connecticut communities coming to help those of us in need is unprecedented. I was diagnosed with colo-rectal cancer in October, 2017. Being in the throes of a life altering event is surreal, at the very least. The financial burden of today’s excessive medical costs and my being unable to work has been devastating. The assistance and overwhelming support we have received from the Possum Queen Foundation is heartwarming and humbling. The Possum Queen’s generosity has helped alleviate the daily worry of covering household expenses, taking tremendous pressure off my family, and allowing us to focus on my health and medical treatments. We thank the entire Possum Queen team for all they do every day, volunteering their valuable time, promoting and fundraising for genuine cause to directly help people like me. We are blessed to live in such a caring and compassionate community. We are extremely appreciative recipients of such a wonderful gift.
